Reflections from PDAC: Talking to CEOs in Toronto

A short reflection on being at PDAC in Toronto, meeting people from across the mining and technical industries, and realizing how human those conversations really were.

Reflections from PDAC: Talking to CEOs in Toronto

I was in Toronto last week for PDAC, helping a friend.

I had the opportunity to talk to numerous CEOs from mining, exploration, production, and prospecting companies, as well as technical companies.

What stood out to me was not just the industries they came from, but the way they presented themselves and their companies.

Some were very passionate, some were straightforward and efficient with their time, and others had a great sense of humor. They are just people like anyone else.

What stayed with me

The conversations felt surprisingly human and approachable.

That was probably the biggest impression I took away from the week. From the outside, it is easy to imagine people in those positions as distant or hard to reach. In reality, many of those conversations felt open, direct, and normal.

A reminder for myself

I am grateful for the opportunity to observe, learn, and meet new people.

It reminded me that even in industries that can seem very formal from a distance, people still respond to honesty, clarity, and real conversation.

Looking ahead

I am looking forward to staying in touch with some of the individuals I met.

PDAC gave me a lot to think about, not only in terms of industries and companies, but also in terms of how people connect, present themselves, and build trust face to face.

That part felt just as valuable as anything happening on the exhibition floor.
